“We follow the ways of wolves, the habits of tigers: or, rather we are worse than they. To them nature has assigned that they should be thus fed, while God has honoured us with rational speech and a sense of equity. And yet we are become worse than the wild beast.”

― John Chrysostom

I was originally a vegetarian and this lasted for three years. I was young, in my early teens when I made the decision to switch. My parents never restricted what I consumed, that's a luxury I have always had so when they found out about my dietary switch it came as a shock to them, however, they were supportive. My reasonings for becoming a vegetarian were down to wanting to lose weight and be healthier so after a few years the motivation died down. I didn't have the knowledge or passion to do research the way I am doing so now and learning more each day.

I ate animal products for a few years after that, but I always knew it wasn't right. I educated myself over those few years by watching documentaries and listening to public figures that promote a lifestyle without animal products. It appealed to me yet I couldn't find the strength to make that switch. Reading other posts online about becoming vegan they all advise on slowly making that transition but it didn't make sense to me how that would work. If you're not consuming meat because you don't want to harm animals how can you be consuming eggs or cheese when they inflict the same pain.

My turning point only occurred recently, late November 2015, when I was having lunch with two girls I knew and one was vegan. I couldn't help but feeling ashamed that I was eating cheese in the presence of her whilst the other girl who was not vegan or vegetarian didn't seem phased. I knew here that I was feeling like that for a reason and if there was any time to make the switch fully it was then.

After that meal I didn't consume animal products.

I won't be the kind of person who pushes their view onto another; whatever lifestyle that you choose to lead is great as long as you have made the conscious decision, don't allow your ignorance let you think that you know how things work in the food industry as that's something that takes a lot of research to try and get a glimpse of. Numerous times I have been asked the question of why I'm not consuming milk or eggs when that doesn't kill animals and that's when I have to go in preaching vegan mode. A change like this isn't something that can be pushed onto anyone anyway, people have to turn to it when the time is right for them.

I know that this is a long term thing, I can't promise how long I will be vegan but my intentions are for the rest of my life. I know that I will never consume meat ever again, but I'm still working on completely removing my love for cheese. I had my slip ups with foods that sneakily contain animal products such as dairy, and I still get my chai with normal milk from the vending machine from the library, but I never claimed to be perfect. I just think of the documentaries I have watched and how the animals were treated; I am a big animal lover and love my dog so much, I wouldn't want anything to happen to him. Why should I be the reason for that kind of thing to happen to other animals?

Think back to China's Yulin Dog (and cat) Meat Festival that caused chaos in Western society; people don't see dogs and cats as food because they are domesticated animals now, however, nothing is different between a dog and a pig, or a cat and a chicken, both deserve the right of life. There shouldn't be double standards, especially in situations like this.

Veganism is a lifestyle which comes with other things to be considered. Being cautious of the items you purchase; furniture, clothing, footwear, accessories. In this modern day society veganism is being glamourised but it's not as easy as it's played out to be, there is a lot of mental work that comes into play. This is a ongoing process and I can see that I am learning more each day.

Some quotes which helped me with my personal switch, I'm not saying that everyone has to do this, it's a matter of coming to the decision yourself that you feel it is right to lead this lifestyle.

It's taken me a while to figure out how to actually word the topic which I am going to talk about. This is because it's something that I am extremely passionate about, and it is that people are not disposable. I myself have been the 'victim' of this far too often, people I have greatly cared for have cut me off from their lives for whatever reason which can not truly be justified.

I can probably count all the people that have treated me as disposable on both of my hands, it's a hurtful thing to go through relationship or friendship wise. When you cut someone off so easily it makes them question everything prior to that moment. Was everything so wrong the whole time, have you both basically been living this lie. Sounds very dramatic, but once you are on the receiving end of this matter then it hurts instantly. If you have cut someone off unfairly then maybe once your stubbornness and anger dies out however long that may take you will realise the damage that you once caused. You might have stopped talking to your best (female) friend because your new girlfriend now suspects that there's something more than friendship going on and that relationship could be going great for you. However, one day you will undoubtedly think back and realise I shouldn't have done that to someone who had always been there for me.

Friendships and relationships both require so much love and effort and compromise. Building these relationships is so rewarding but maintaining them and understanding that everyone has a place in your life and heart takes more time. If you find yourself in an argument with a loved one and they are so willing to end that friendship/relationship with no hesitation then take a step back. If you have tried your hardest to make things right and the other person does not reciprocate then you need to leave that situation behind. I think you should try your hardest, but do not become desperate for the friendship and love of someone who isn't worthy of you. Especially friendships that are years old, if someone is so happy with throwing that away then they never deserved it in the first place.

We all deserve to be loved through the different relationships we have in our lives; friends, romantic interests, family we deserve to feel the love from all of those groups. We also need to know when to try harder with others to make them feel this love, and also we need to be aware of when enough is enough when someone does not give you love or even truly accept yours. The generation that we are in now, I myself am 20 so I'm right in the middle of this, is that it's much easier to delete and block someone on your device than to talk with them face to face about what the true issue is. Guaranteed, if those conversations where had face to face most of the time they could be resolved because most of the time they are extremely petty 'arguments'.

My last thing to say is that you must know your worth, you need to stand up for yourself and love yourself first before you can love anyone else, and before anyone else can love you back. You need people in your life, and your heart will grow with amount of people you let it. Just because you get into a new relationship does not mean you need to get rid of friends to make space for someone, remember that everyone has a place in your life and heart and it's your job to make sure that everyone who has treated you right and loved you feels your love. People are not things you can pick up and throw away once you're done with them, they need love and friendship just the way you do.

I'm unsure if that heading is accurate in any way BUT it sounded good.
I have been away for months but have now found the motivation to get back into this.
I was walking around town; boots and debenhams with my best friend talking about beauty & skincare related things and in the back of my mind it made me realise how much I missed actually blogging and everything that comes along with it.
I love helping people discover new things, and teach them new techniques.

I can't wait to share whatever I learn with you all.

Due to certain personal circumstances I haven't been able to produce efficient content for today's post hence why it is also late. I didn't want to not put in effort at all, so after watching a few youtube videos I thought I would include this one about how to be a morning person. I know I'm loving getting up early in the mornings and making the most of my days, so I wanted to share this with you all so everyone can be as productive as possible.

I love a good moisturiser that smells divine and this has to be one of my all time favourites. Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden seem to produce wonderful and luxurious products that make you feel so lovely.

This product leaves my skin with a beautiful glow; I find that my body looks much healthier and hydrated after I have used this. It doesn't take long to dry as your skin will absorb it and a little bit goes a long way so you won't run out of it fairly quickly.

On the Sanctuary Spa website the product claims;

'Whilst you’re day dreaming of your next escape in the sun, drench your body in lashings of luscious moisture. This delicious whipped-crème combines a fragrant blend of exotic spices with shea butter, camomile & vitamin E that melts into skin to leave it feeling moisturised, soft & gorgeously fragranced. Smooth this fluffy & luxurious soufflé onto clean skin for instant pampering. Indulge in a truly decadent moisture ritual.'

This product provides your skin with spices and vitamin E, so as well as being a good product it is also benefiting your skin in aiding to improve its overall health. Also, the fragrance doesn't just disappear, it lingers on your skin for a long time which makes it even better.

There isn't much detail to go into this product except it's a wonderful moisturiser that everyone should use. It comes at £11, I picked my tub up from Boots, although it is pretty pricey for a body moisturiser, it does last a long time and for me it's replaced everything else.

Once you build up your core strength the benefits will also translate into your daily life as well as into your sports performance. Your posture is also improved because once the core is strengthened it corrects bad posture by evenly distributing weight. This reduces the wear and tear on your spine. There are many other benefits such as better breathing, slimmer waistline and prevention of lower back pain.

Here is a routine I used to do myself when I first started getting into working out regularly. This balanced with cardio and a good healthy diet should help you see positive results.

○ Flutter Kicks

Brilliant workout; focuses on a few different muscles including inner and outer obliques. It's great for toning and slimming the waist. 15 reps x 2 sets

○ Crunches
Like everything else spoken about here crunches work the core; predominately the upper abs. Brilliant workout, but so easy to do it wrong. Make sure you have mastered the technique before increasing the sets. 15 reps x 2 sets

○ Squats

My selfie saturday is dedicated to a very special person(dog) in my life, Rex.

Yesterday (5th June) two years ago is the day my parents surprised me by taking me to pick up a very tiny and scared little puppy (top left photo and bottom right, taking him home in the car). After nearly ten years of trying to convince them to get a puppy, they caved in. I'm going to share some photos of rex from him being a pup to now.

Today I wanted to share with you a sandwich that could go both ways; either super healthy or super naughty!!

All you will need is;

○ White Bread (use brown for healthy alternative)

○ Tomato

○ Spinach

○ Avocado

○ Red Onion

○ Cream Cheese

○ Olive Oil

○ Lemon

○ Black Pepper

○ *Bacon* (optional to keep your sandwich healthy or vegetarian don't use this)

You then toast the bread, and whilst that toasts slice your veggies up.

Once the bread is toasted, apply the cream cheese on one slice and smashed up avocado to the other. Layer the vegetables on top of each other. Drizzle some olive oil and lemon juice on top, season with black pepper. Add the other slice of bread on top and you're done!

I'm a student myself so without having a steady income it's hard to go out and purchase everything you want, or everything you tell yourself you 'need'. I'm going to share with you a few tips on how to save your money, but still look good. These following tips are suitable for everyone (even for boys), money wise tactics that I have learnt because I myself went through a crazy shopping phase and it does get pretty addictive.

 ○ Quality

This is something that I had to learn by myself, mostly because I never would have listened to my parents when it came to fashion. The sooner you realise it's not the amount of stuff you have, but what matters is how good the quality of what you do have is. When you buy cheap items of clothing you get sucked into thinking you're not spending a lot but in reality you'll spend more money buying more cheap things than if you were to invest in something pricey.

 ○ Sale

Never just purchase something because it is on sale; the fact the price is significantly lower can cloud your judgement on whether you like something or not. Although you'd think always shopping on the sale rack would be good on your bank account it can have the opposite effect. It's pointless spending money on an item if you're hardly going to use it. You should only ever purchase something if you're 100% sure that you love it and will wear it.

 ○ Investment

It's always going to work out better if you invest in basics; this ensures that they will (hopefully) last for a long time. so don't go splashing out on staple items which will go out of fashion in a few months. Especially when you're on a budget, you need to prioritise what is a necessity and what isn't.

 ○ Splurge

If your account can take it then definitely splurge on an item; prior to this I recommend you plan wisely what it is that you want. You should research into it; read reviews, watch youtube videos on this item you want to purchase. When spending a lot of money on something whether it's a bag or shoes whatever it may be you want to know you're getting your money's worth.

 ○ Sell

There are so many different ways that you can make money online now (to fund your future shopping). With choices from Depop to eBay you have different ways to advertise items you no longer want and can make money from it. After all the quote does say another man's trash is another man's treasure.

As you get older maintaining friendships becomes harder; and the tough reality of things is you will most likely grow apart from people. Different life experiences will happen and people change, now change isn't always a bad thing but its something that you have to adjust to. Through my own experience, I have discovered that biggest challenge for friendships is once you leave school and everyone start to do their own thing. You're not in an environment where you're ensured that you'll see your social clique daily so you have to put in more of an effort in order to see people. Here are a few well known but unwritten rules of friendship.

○  Kindness
Always be kind to one another, of course, we all have things we disagree on but learn how to overcome them and compromise. Remember that your friendship matters and how you treat each other is an indicator of how long your friendship will last.

○  Honesty
It's certainly the best policy; there isn't a nice way to tell someone something they don't want to hear. I've seen my friends sugar coat things in the past, but it only makes it harder when the real truth does come out. Of course, telling someone something in a respectful and thoughtful way is a must, but don't sugar coat just be honest.

○  Loyalty
Be loyal to your friends; a good example of this would be not going with a guy (or girl) your friend has previously been with or liked a lot. Loyalty equals respect. This one is pretty simple, just be loyal to your friends. Don't constantly change friendship groups, try to build something meaningful with the friends you have got. Trust me, it will work out much better down the line.

○  Effort
It's so important to make an effort with the people you care about. Everyone loves it when someone wants to be around them. Knowing someone is putting in effort to see you, taking valuable time to spend with you is a pretty good feeling. Friendships, like all relationships, will suffer greatly when effort in one sided. This needs to be a two-way thing, both sides must put in equal effort to ensure that no one feels unappreciated.

Friendships are hard to keep but so precious. I have lost friends in the past; of course at the time it hurt me but now I understand that it was not my fault. We all have issues and see things differently, but a true friend would help you through a situation or accept you for how you are. If your friend does not do this then trust me you're better off opening that place in your life for someone who would be able to treat you right and not take advantage of your good nature.
Do not forget that friendship is teamwork.

Can you think of anything better than waking up in the morning and everything being perfect (looks wise). Let's not lose sight that what's inside matters more than appearance but let's also be realistic that our looks do affect how we are so trying to look your best isn't a sin. Here I'm going to suggest some things you can do before sleep to help you look your utmost best in the morning.

○ Remove Makeup
You have to ensure that your skin is thoroughly cleansed; a good consistent skin care regime will help you to do this. Pre-cleanse and then cleanse again to be sure that every bit of grime has been lifted from the skin. Clogged pores lead to acne, wrinkles and damage the skin as the makeup and grime won't allow it to breath. Do not just rely on makeup wipes as these do not remove makeup completely but just the layer on top, deep cleanse. So make sure to remove all of your makeup before bed, your skin will thank you.

○ Castor Oil
If you're looking to grow your lashes and brows then applying castor oil religiously of a night will aid in thicker hairs growing back (which is something everyone seems to strive for nowadays). Castor oil has great health benefits but is often underlooked due to its sticky thick consistency. It's great for hair loss so this theory could be applied in regards to your brows and lashes. As well as aiding in the growth, Castor Oil nourishes hair strands and follicles. If you're someone who uses makeup frequently then you know especially with lashes, they can get very weak and dry so by doing this you're adding back moisture and making the hairs healthy.

○ Exfoliate
This is a must, I do it every night before bed, then shower and moistures (next point). I find that exfoliating your skin, be it with a body scrub or dry body brushing, does not only improve the texture but the overall tone. Your skin will look better, as you know exfoliation removes dead skin cells, so you're taking off that layer of dead skin which would otherwise lead to flaky dry skin and a dull complexion. For daily exfoliation especially on the face don't use anything too abrasive try chemical exfoliators, but for the body I recommend using a body brush (that's a whole different post in itself).

○ Moisturise
It makes sense after exfoliating and cleansing your skin you need to add back all the goodness. Moisturising is essential as you do not want your skin to feel tight, dry and uncomfortable as this could damage it and even lead to wrinkles. When your skin isn't moisturised it's left weaker and less effective, so to keep it subtle slap it on all over your body and wake up with the softest healthiest skin ever. Using a serum as well as moisturising on your face will help add double the moisture. Don't forget to add foot cream too; as your feet tend to get pretty dry it doesn't hurt to keep them in good condition too. With the warmer days coming up, sandals will probably be your go-to footwear so ensure your feet are looking their best. Hands. Don't forget to moisturise hands. Just moisturise your whole body head to toe.

○ Spot Treatment
This is for those that suffer from acne or just the occasional spot either on your face or body. Applying a good quality spot treatment should help dry out and reduce inflammation. My go-to spot treatment is Grease Lightning from Lush. I hear good things about Sudocrem and how it combats spots but personally for me it never worked. Another great spot treatment is Asprin; dissolve aspirin with a tiny amount of water and apply onto the areas of concern.

○ Lip Balm
Like the skin on your face and body, your lips also need to be kept soft and subtle. When you have dehydrated dry lips it can be extremely uncomfortable as in most cases they crack and start to peel. Prevention is better than cure with dry chapped lips, as it takes a while to get them back into a healthy state so apply An intensive lip balm or multipurpose cream to help avoid all of this. If you already have chapped lips then looking for a medicated product should do the trick.

Above all else you must sleep well; you need to have your sleeping routine down to a T (I know it's easier said than done).

'I'll start on Monday', that's the lie I tell myself when it comes to working out and jumping on the fitspo bandwagon. So I figured I'd do this on a Sunday that way I'm one step ahead. Today I'll be talking about different ways to get motivated. I know personally I will be really into going to the gym and eating super clean but after a while, I lose motivation and the slightest thing can take me off track. These are different things I will do in order to get myself back on track.

○ Old Photos

I'll find myself thinking back to the last time I went to the gym and weeks, some cases months will have passed by. Times like that I'd look at old photographs of myself. This motivates me because I realise how far I've dropped down and what I need to do to get back to it. I think of what I used to do at that time; what foods I'd eat, how often I exercised, what I did, how much I slept and try to recreate all that.

○ Moodboard

Whether you decide to do is the old fashion way or creating a mood board on Pinterest this is a great way to motivate you. Seeing all these different images will make you want to 'look the same' and will hopefully make you want to work out even more. I'll usually have images off Tumblr, Instagram etc. and look at them when I feel unmotivated.

○ Sports Luxe

Having cute workout clothes will help more than you realise; you'll be more willing to dress up and get on the move. You'll feel better when you look better in the gym. For me, I like to keep my clothes minimalistic but I LOVE to buy new basics to change into every time, its kind of a bad habit. A cool pair of trainers (or two) also help in the motivation department.

○ Fun Food

Make healthy recipes fun. Do this by trying different things, researching different recipes. Try adding a type of vegetable that you've never thought of putting in a smooth and see how it goes. The key is to enjoy playing with creating new and healthy foods. through my research of healthier foods, I discovered quinoa and it's now my favourite thing to make. It can be incorporated in salads, a substitute for rice there's endless things you can do with it. So do some research and discover new exciting foods and recipes. I'm going to be doing fun healthy (and sometimes indulgent) recipes to help you with this.

○ Why

Remember why you started all of this; be it to lose weight or just lead a healthier life. Remember that this isn't just a fad diet its a lifestyle and embrace it. You'll reap what you sow, so put your hardest into anything you do to get the results you desire. Just always always always remind yourself of why you began and that itself should be enough motivation for you.

I really do hope that this has helped you in some way because I know myself how hard it is to get back up and feel motivated after such a long time.

I have a love-hate relationship when it comes to breakfast, some days I'll want to get up at 7:30am and start the day off right with a good breakfast but most days I'll end up rolling out of bed at an unreasonable time and breakfast is the last thing on my mind. Somehow I know I'm not the only one who ends up doing the latter a lot more than I should.

Today I'm going to share with you one simple, healthy and delicious recipe idea that you could whip up in the morning when you're in a rush or take your time to make on those rare stress free mornings.

Flourless Pancakes

The ultimate breakfast, pancakes. Actually, I'd have these at any time of the day not just for breakfast but anyway... Super simple to make, but do require a few minutes as you have to fry them and concentrate when you flip the pancake over. A stress everyone knows too well. This recipe was inspired by blogilates pancakes which consist of only banana and eggs, however, I have altered the recipe slightly to suit my taste.

To make these wonderful pancakes all you will need is

○1 Banana
○2 Eggs

○1/2 cup of finely milled oats

○1tsp of Cinnamon

Mash up the banana and combine all the ingredients above as you normally would when making pancakes then fry on a none stick pan with a bit of oil. Be careful to not have the heat on too high as you don't want to burn them. Add any toppings you like; my favourite is lemon juice and honey with some type of fruit be it bananas, blueberries, raspberries whatever you like.

This breakfast idea is ram packed with nutrition for your body; the bananas are rich in potassium whilst the eggs supply protein and omega-3, fiber from the oats and cinnamon is good for a number of different reasons.
